To find yourself you need the greatest possible freedom to drift.

and, morality aside, just doing what you can to get by.

from bad decisions, overwhelming debts and dead end jobs
freedom to choose your own interests still exists and is
always an available escape route..

some things are just there to facilitate a means to an end.

you could follow the 'instinct' theory and go with the drift
and, as Bacon, see where that takes you; which does seem the
better and more organic way to live. (impulsive/contradictory
temperament)

  1. I am not sure I agree with Bacon.
With too much freedom I drift away and perhaps into nothing and yes it may be organic but not fulfilling.
I need structure to work against.
I need a limited palette in my work to feel the greatest expanse.

But yes, we must remember that ultimately we do have a choice everyday and we can choose to run away and escape into a new reality, when we shake off the inertia that is firmly attached.( and that is exciting/terrifying - like fire and noise)
